THANK YOU. Once again, society has perpetuated blaming the victim. Chris Brown + Rihanna release a collaboration remix, and some dare to criticize Rihanna for this choice. Invalid. It is Chris Brown’s responsibility to accordingly be remorseful, NOT Rihanna’s. The only person who should be met with negative feedback is Chris Brown. If he had truly “learned form his mistake” (as he tweeted recently), then where is the action to raise awareness against domestic violence? I am not beyond forgiveness; he simply has not shown any improvement nor remedied the situation. I really am disappointed in how much success Chris Brown is still able to achieve. Yes, people deserve second chances—but to be fair Chris Brown already had a huge chunk of his dreams accomplished before the beating. Is it too much to ask for that we do not support his music after the fact? He could live a completely comfortable life without support from new music endeavors. Chris Brown would not be suffering if we protested his music… So my question is—How can society allow a person (let us even put gender aside, let us speak more generalized humanitarian respect issues) who critically injured another human being to continue to be such an influencer on our culture? It is really, truly unfortunate. This post probably is not written very clearly nor well, and I apologize for that. I am a bit to emotional about this one to think clearly enough.
